Well, a family session with me is entirely about documenting the beauty of your life as it is today. I am not the type of photographer to tell you that you can't and shouldn't do poses.
Instead, I encourage families to allow the child (ren) to lead these sessions. In most cases, they are natural at cultivating genuine memories, which will be anything from playful to unconditional love. Their actions and emotions will guide us, we must allow them to invite us into their world.
WHY?
If they're having fun, you're having fun and we're having fun. It will build trust towards me in them, and it will typically end in some very special unexpected moments.

The general notion about having your family documented is typically seen as a special occasion thing. However, the everyday moments matter too. Document your family as you fit, when you feel like it, there is always something to love about so-called mundane aspects of everyday life. It could be as simple as playing or cooking as a family.
Places and things that mean something to the whole family will foster honest and meaningful memories. Whether it's in your home or your favourite place to be, make it personal, make it yours. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
